WHILE THE COMMON SENSE Series synopsizes my observations on a wide array of topics, it is really just a sort of "lick-and-a-promise" treatment. Here, in the Essays section, is where I begin to focus, in depth, on the most pressing issues.

Since it is in Iraq that the Bush cabal has most clearly shown its heavy hand to date, I have begun with a series of examinations of our purported and actual purposes in invading and occupying the Cradle of Civilization, and what the likely consequences are — accompanied by a photo essay depicting some of the actual consequences to date.

Why did the U.S. invade Iraq?

As an American, I have often asked myself what our real purpose was in invading and occupying Iraq. And the answers do not make me at all proud of or happy for our ....

But there were other images American media did not show us: images of the people at Ground Zero, the victims of this supposed war of liberation ... or was it a war against terrorism? ... or a war against weapons of ....
